What a wonderful sound this morning at a little after 6:00 -- my phone ringing to tell me that school was closed today! Hip hip hooray for snow days!!! As much as I love my job, I was more than happy to have an unexpected family day on this super cold day! Windchills near -20! Brrrr!
John was a super-star daddy and took the kids outside to play. Even the frosty temps couldn't lessen their excitement for the first real snow of the year. They couldn't wait to have some time outside!
I stayed inside baking cookies :), but did step out onto the deck for a few quick photos.
They weren't outside for too long, but it was so fun to see them so excited to finally have some snow to play in! They've been patient this year!
We had the best day. Lots of time for books and games, a movie with the kids this afternoon, and even a family workout! I got some work done around the house, and even made time for some schoolwork.
Unexpected family day = one of my favorite surprises! YAY for snow days!

Wasn't it SOOO fun just to be home and get to enjoy the excitement of playing in the snow! Sounds like you guys made the most of it too! Such a relaxing day mid week ;)
So fun! You deserve a relaxing day for sure. We have had snow but haven't been able to play in it yet...it came while we were in Chicago and was mostly melted by the time we got back. Here's hoping for a few more for both of us this winter!
Yay for SNOW DAYS!! :o) Those unexpected days home (without having to create sub lesson plans ;o)) are the BEST!
